ALLEY OOP AFRICA
Sports for Development!
Alley-oop Africa is a sensitization campaign targeting the general public, particularly youth, to promote behaviours consistent with sustainable development goals related to health and gender equality. Leveraging the popularity of sports and the fame of athletes, as well as the success of popular media and digital formats, this project will create educational messages and widely disseminate values such as citizen participation, solidarity, and mutual respect. The overarching objective is to transform sports into a tool for development in Africa, specifically in the areas of access to healthcare (SDG 3) and gender equality (SDG 5). Project actions will:
Inform and sensitize a wide spectrum of young Africans by harnessing the power of sports to advance the health and gender equality agenda.
Encourage girls to engage in sports by challenging stereotypes and discrimination that hinder their free participation in sports.
Contribute to enhancing the appeal and organization of associations focused on ‘sports and development’ in Africa, serving as incubators for nurturing a new generation of leaders committed to creating local solutions for their communities.
